Monday, August 16th ~ Today the moon is in Sagittarius all day, casting a restless energy. You may find yourself propelling forward in time, with a chasm existing between the mind and body. Remember to take deep breaths and ground into the earth below. Excitement leads the way, and we seek out adventure in even the smallest projects. Venus ingresses Libra at 12:26am EST, coming home to one of the signs it rules over. Here until September 10th, Venus is able to express itself more fully. Creative projects that require an eye for aesthetics and design are able to flourish. Flirtation and romance take center stage. We have more desire for harmony in our relationships and seek to smooth out problems and arguments rather than clinging to who is right or wrong. This is always something to work toward, but during this season we find more relief in working together with others. Looking past differences to the common thread that unites us all is an important message to remember during this time. Tonight the moon trines Chiron at 8:21pm EST, which offers us a window for emotional healing; consider giving yourself time to rest, whatever that looks like for you. One person's rest might look like lounging on the couch and watching a movie, while another's might be going for a walk in the woods. Rest is something personal and unique for each of us.
Tuesday, August 17th ~ Today we have the moon in Sagittarius all day. The imagination expands out and out into the far reaches, but the Sagittarian influence ensures that we propel forward rather than getting stuck in a daydream. We seek to learn through direct experience, by making a decision and then adjusting to it. The moon and Sun are in trine today at 5:51pm and the moon also sextiles Jupiter at 9:42pm EST, both of which give us a buoyant and positive outlook. For those who are having trouble connecting to this energy, it is accessible through the element of fire. With the Sun in Leo and Moon in Sagittarius, you may find that working on creative pursuits will help you to feel more uplifted. Also lighting a candle or spending some time near a campfire can assist you in aligning to this. The moon is void of course from 9:43pm EST until early tomorrow morning. It's a good evening for story telling, or getting lost in the plot of a novel, movie, or video game.
Wednesday, August 18th ~ The moon is void of course in Sagittarius until 1:57am EST, when it ingresses Capricorn. The morning has a slightly pinched energy; by this I mean that we can feel somewhat constricted by the transits and wish for more room to stretch out. The moon squares Venus at 6:27am EST, and so we find that others may not cooperate as much as we'd like them to. It might be easier to work on your own in the morning and afternoon, and to unite with others later on. Mercury and Mars are building to an exact conjunction all day which perfects at 11:28pm EST. This is a powerful transit which helps to develop leadership qualities and aligns our words with our actions. Do you follow through on your intentions and promises? This transit is a call to all to step up and take charge. About ten minutes after this transit, the moon trines both Mars and Mercury, which gives us the emotional strength and willpower to follow through. You may be required to be brave and speak your mind. Stepping into a position of leadership might not mean that you are delegating or instructing others what they should be doing. It could just be taking charge of something in your own life and taking the necessary step to make it happen.
Thursday, August 19th ~ We have the moon in Capricorn all day today, which awards us some focus and grounding. It is easier to fully immerse yourself in a project today than when the moon is in a more scattered sign. Our vision for the future and our ability to see beyond what is in front of us is expanded thanks to the moon's sextile to Neptune at 3:59pm EST. It is a bit like entering a field full of garbage but being able to see how beautiful it will be once you get it all cleaned up. The moon later conjuncts Pluto at 7:59pm EST and immediately moves void of course until tomorrow morning. No detail goes unnoticed tonight. Many will be very observant and watchful, so be direct rather than sneaking around because you will likely be caught. The Sun and Jupiter are in opposition at 8:28pm EST, which creates a sense of abundant generosity and goodwill. At times we may find that we overdo it during this transit, i.e. giving away more than we should, eating or drinking too much, spending too much money, etc. It is a "good time" transit however, and should be enjoyed with a celebration of sorts. To end the day, we have Uranus stationing retrograde at 9:41pm EST. It joins Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, and Chiron for our yearly "retrograde season". Uranus spends about five months of every year in retrograde, and so this will not feel unfamiliar or shocking to our systems. This retrograde lasts until January 18th, 2022 and sends Uranus from 14 degrees Taurus back to 10 degrees Taurus. This is the second decan of Taurus, ruled over by Mercury. Communication is key here, and by being clear and open about financial and security-based needs, we can help to overcome problems. You may need to re-examine themes that emerged over the past year, especially in relation to financial shifts and changes. It's a good time to learn to develop trust in ourselves to improvise. Change is constant, and knowing you can handle whatever arises is an invaluable gift. Don't be afraid to ask for help along the way.
Friday, August 20th ~ The day begins with the moon void of course in Capricorn, ending as it ingresses Aquarius at 4:48am EST. Fresh ideas spark in the brain; it is possible to see things with futuristic vision today that extends further than normal. Mercury and Uranus are in trine at 4:06am EST, which adds to our ability to invent something fresh, and rocket ourselves in a new direction. The afternoon has a couple pleasant transits: the moon trines Venus at 2:01pm and trines the North Node at 5:17pm EST. We seek to include others in our envisioning. The Aquarian moon is typically not very soft and emotional, but these transits help to open it up to bring more tenderness in. Our desires center around wanting to uplift current conditions to make things better for as many beings as possible. We end the day with a moon/Saturn conjunction at 7:55pm EST, which centers our focus and helps with meditation and single-minded concentration. If you need to go all in on one task, this transit will assist you in honing your powers of intention.
Saturday, August 21st ~ Today is quite simple astrologically, with the only transits taking place very early in the morning and a totally open afternoon and evening. As we gear up for tomorrow's Full Moon and the entrance into Virgo season, we can enjoy this open-ended day and bask in the last rays of the Leo Sun. The moon is in Aquarius all day today; we find freedom attractive and may seek out ways to carve out more space to think and be. The moon sextiles Chiron at 2:01am and squares Uranus at 6:11am EST; the theme of these transits is about allowing yourself to be who you are. Pressure from others to conform or work within confining parameters will not be easily tolerated today. As the Sun transits the 29th degree of Leo, we may feel strongly about asserting our individuality and ego identity, especially if pushed by other people. The energy build of tomorrow's Full Moon will be more intense overnight, so consider doing some intentional movement like dance, going for a brisk walk, or other physical exercise to harness its power.
Sunday, August 22nd ~ Today is quite a packed day celestially. We begin with two planetary transits: Venus trine the North Node at 12:15am and Mars trine Uranus at 2:37am EST. These are highly charged aspects that spur us toward movement and change. We may feel more confident to undertake something new. Working with others allows us to flow in the direction of our destiny. The second Full Moon in Aquarius in a month occurs at 8:01am EST, and then the moon immediately moves void of course. This Full Moon is quite intense, taking place at 29 degrees Aquarius as the Sun transits the 29th degree of Leo. This anaretic degree intensifies whatever planets pass through it, and so you may feel an intense explosion of emotion this morning. The desire to assert yourself is strong, be it through speech or through an action that feels intrinsically 'you'. While the energy of this Full Moon is quite powerful, it breaks up and recedes just as fast. The moon moves into Pisces at 8:42am EST, and suddenly we're left wondering what even happened. The rest of the day is more grounded and gentle. After two Aquarian Full Moons in one month, you may notice that something that was put into motion back on the new moon of February 11th. What was going on then? What intentions were you forming, either consciously or subconsciously? External manifestations may relate to the community surrounding you, friends and colleagues, and humanitarian or charitable efforts. Finally, the Sun ingresses Virgo at 5:34pm EST and Virgo Season is officially upon us. This mutable earth sign indicates the final weeks of summer in the Northern hemisphere, and winter in the Southern. Mutable earth may seem somewhat contradictory, but if we look closer we can see that Virgo takes chaos and disorder and brings grounding and consistency to them. This is a big lesson of the season: eliminating long-standing chaos. Using the Virgo touch of healing, we can bring stability to something that has been causing us stress for a long time. Humility and a willingness to be of service are the higher aspects of Virgo, and by tapping into these energies we are able to improve our own lives and those of all we come in contact with.
