Monday, August 17th ~ Today the Sun and Mercury meet in conjunction, also known as Mercury Cazimi, at 11:07am EST. When Mercury enters the heart of the Sun, this tends to bring a sharpening of intellect, wit, and mental acuity. Taking place at 25 degrees Leo, within the decan or mansion of Leo ruled by Mars, we find ourselves motivated to take action toward creative pursuits or the mastery of self. Communication is improved and made easier under these conditions, particularly communicating in regards to artistry and self-promotion. Mercury and Mars met in trine early this morning, which provides the day with a sense of optimism and forward propulsion. By the end of the week, the Leo energy will be subsiding, so today and tomorrow it is good to make use of the fire.
Tuesday, August 18th ~ Today is a grand day in the cosmos, with the Sun and moon meeting in conjunction to form a New Moon in Leo which peaks at 10:41pm EST. We also have Mercury sextiling the North Node, and Venus and Uranus meeting in sextile (both within the 3pm hour, EST). All of the energy is notably positive, but does require us to suspend our plans and roll with potential surprises. The Venus/Uranus sextile can bring shake ups in the arena of personal relationships and creative partnerships. The sextile energy is gentle and harmonious, so the surprises will only feel bad if we are clinging to our ideas of how something ought to be. Mercury and the North Node give us the chance to extend out of our comfort zone by asking for what it is we want or need. You will need to open yourself up to take a risk. The New Moon in Leo calls us into the black velour of a safe lion's den. Themes of inner strength, conviction, and protection come into play.
Wednesday, August 19th ~ Today Mercury enters Virgo, one of the signs it rules over. Mercury is quite at home here in the sign of the vestal Virgin, and brings forth a curiosity of spirit and quickening of the intellect. Mercury will be here in Virgo until September 5th. To make the best use of this energy, keep your mind active with puzzles, learning, and organization. Mercury in Virgo loves to solve mysteries, piece together complex schedules and plans, and play games that tickle the mind. When we don't engage this part of ourselves during Virgo season, it can create excess worry. Channel the mind into these projects. The Sun sextiles the North Node today, which puts us on track toward karmic fulfillment. Consider taking a leap into something new, even if it feels frightening at first.
Saturday, August 22nd ~ Today the Sun enters Virgo at 11:44am EST. The Sun in Virgo denotes the final stage of summer in the northern hemisphere, and the last days of winter in the southern. Virgo is mutable earth, the ground which can be molded and shaped, much like clay. The Virgin rules over the harvest, the last of the earth's bounty before we move into the more retiring days of autumn. As we creep toward Mabon, a reminder to hold onto your faith and optimism. Our creative powers combined help to shape the world each day. It is easy to feel downtrodden upon seeing the state of things at times. Virgo's supreme gift is that of humble healer, she who works to nurture the sick and solve the problems of the natural, physical Earth. Keep in touch with the beat of the world, the plants and trees and minerals and see what grows out of your care.
