Monday, August 24th ~ Today Mars in Aries forms a square to Saturn in Capricorn, perfecting at 2:19pm EST. Mars moves slowly enough that we have been feeling this energy for the days leading up to today, and will likely continue to feel it through the middle of this week. Slowing down comes as a challenge and perhaps could even be viewed as an imposition. Mars wants to barrel forward and take action, but Saturn steps in to slow the movement and will not allow Mars to proceed without proper consideration. What this means is that each action will need to have a reason or intention behind it; otherwise you may seem to bump into obstacles that seem fairly immovable. It is not a bad day to hold off on important shifts or decisions, and using the time to plan ahead to make sure your choices resonate with the larger picture at hand.

Tuesday, August 25th ~ Today is mostly pleasant, with Mercury and Uranus meeting in trine at 11:17am EST and Venus opposing Jupiter in the evening at 6:25pm EST. We are still feeling the impact of the Mars/Saturn square from yesterday, so today may move a little slowly in the outer world. However, our inner world comes to life. The Mercury/Uranus trine provides us with heady insights, inventive solutions, and creative ideas that sparkle with all the buzz of electricity. The atmosphere of Mars and Saturn makes it difficult to leap forward without a plan, so you can really use this trine between Mercury and Uranus to mastermind a grand staircase that ascends up to your goal. This evening, Venus in Cancer opposes Jupiter at Capricorn. Both considered the most benefic planets, even a normally difficult opposition can't hold these two down very much. Venus and Jupiter in opposition present a grandiose vision of harmony, utopia, and possibility. You may find yourself focusing on only the positive in regards to a relationship, creative project, etc. It has the effect of a pair of rosy glasses, tinting the world into a wash of pink bliss. The only real danger here is in excess -- eating/drinking too much, indulging in things we might otherwise not, or rushing into something. It may be better to enjoy the rose-hued view in our mental plane, allowing it to imbue us with joy and creativity, rather than trying to enforce it on the physical world.

Wednesday, August 26th ~ Late tonight, Mars sextiles the North Node of the moon at 10:56pm EST.  In some ways, this counteracts the effects of the dwindling Mars/Saturn square from earlier in the week and provides a clear path through to the next karmic 'level'. The position of the North Node in your natal chart shows you what is needed in order for your soul to complete its individual karmic journey in this lifetime. The current North Node in the transiting sky shows us what is needed on a larger, humanity-level scale in order for the planet and humanity to progress as a whole. With Mars joining up to the North Node in sextile, we receive a clearer path for action to be taken. The North Node is presently in Gemini, suggesting that communication is a necessary tool for growth for all of us collectively at the current time. Information should be free flowing, accessible, and shared openly. We will find the most harmony in the coming year by making sure everyone has access to the same information and knowledge, and teaching others through playful, even non-emotional means.

Thursday, August 27th ~ This evening at 5:12pm EST, Venus in Cancer trines Neptune in Pisces. This is a dreamy, pleasant aspect that opens up our compassion, sensitivity and spiritual connection with others. You may feel like you are floating in a sparkling sea, connected to others through shared consciousness. This aspect can bring along a kind of telepathic connection, development of intuition, and access to poetic language and creative visualization. As these planets are treading through the terrain of two water signs, there is a marked emotional component to the transit. It is gentle and heart-based, suggesting you may find yourself opening up to someone or something, as though you are merging together. This could be another person or even something more abstract, like a really good book that you feel sucked into. As the moon is in Capricorn today, you may find that you are able to channel this inspiration into a more concrete project, such as having an artistic vision and then being able to put it on paper.

Saturday, August 29th ~ This morning, Mercury in Virgo trines Jupiter in Capricorn at 9:28am EST. If you need to communicate ideas via writing this is the day to get down to it. Not only does this transit provide clarity and an open mind for scribes and story weavers, it helps one to create tangible results. These planets are in earth signs, and so we can get grounded and create measurable results today. This might look like completing a writing assignment or chapter of a novel, or catching up on emails. You may also find this energy directed into speech. Mercury trine Jupiter gives us an almost-improvisational ability as we seek to communicate. We may not need to plan things out so much, and instead find that the right words seem to materialize right on the tips of our tongues or fingers.

Sunday, August 30th ~ Venus and Pluto oppose one another at 9:30am EST (in Cancer and Capricorn, respectively), and Mercury in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces at 2:43pm EST. Oppositions are traditionally a difficult aspect, but they do offer us some gifts as well. Think of yourself moving down a long, straight path. While sextiles and trines give you clearance and allow you free movement, an opposition will present you with a challenge to overcome. The opposition doesn't necessarily put the obstacle in your path, but it makes you stop to consider that barreling over the giant boulder could be a bad idea. While a trine or sextile might still present with a boulder, you would likely just scale the thing and be on your way with very little worry or concern. Sometimes though, this can be bad! Maybe you hurt yourself while climbing over that huge rock without even stopping to strategize. An opposition makes you stop and say "Wow, there is a giant rock obstructing my path. This is really not ideal, but let me try to see if there is another way around before I go about scaling it." So today, Venus and Pluto opposing each other present us with challenges of dominance and power in personal relationships, and Mercury/Neptune opposing one another present us with challenges in communication and connection with others. Both are essentially driven by a fear of isolation. Stop and slow down and consider that by isolating another, you do nothing to keep yourself from being isolated. Rather than seeing the boulder and giving up, turning back, or just throwing yourself at it and pounding it with your fists fruitlessly, consider that there might be another way around that is different than you expected. Work with others and self in mind, held in equal proportion. Lead with consideration for others, follow with respect for self.
