Monday, February 15th ~ Today the moon is in Aries all day. When the moon is here in the first sign of the zodiac, we tend to move through things quickly, preferring a sense of action to dwelling in a particular emotion. This doesn't mean we don't feel; in fact, Aries tend to feel things every intensely, just that these emotions move and change just as fast as they came. Venus and the North Node are in trine today, perfecting at 12:09am EST but noticeable all day long. Venus is currently in Aquarius (which has a very stacked house right now), and the North Node has been in Gemini since May. This trine can bring in relationships and connections which aid us on our ultimate karmic journey. Oftentimes these contacts don't make the most sense on a logical level, and it is only from a spiritual level or from looking back with hindsight that we see it was for our greatest good. Asteroids Eros and Psyche are in opposition for the next two days which is somewhat of a romantically obsessive aspect. We could feel very drawn in by another person and almost poetically consumed by love, OR this creative, sensual energy could be channeled into a project with equal ferocity. We are building toward a major Saturn/Uranus square on Wednesday that we will feel all week long. More on that in the next couple days.
Tuesday, February 16th ~ Today is a simpler, clean feeling day with little astrological interference. However, Saturn and Uranus are building into an exact square which will perfect tomorrow afternoon. This is a global event that we will really dive deep into tomorrow, but it could create a sense of wanting to control the uncontrollable that begins to creep in today. The moon is in Aries for most of the day, moving void at 7:17pm until 10:12pm EST when it enters Taurus. It is a good day for physical activity, movement, or tackling projects that have been building up. The evening is a good time to kick back, relax, and do something that makes you feel cared for - maybe cook a delicious meal, get takeout, or take a bath with lots of bubbles and a luxurious feeling bath bomb. The Taurean moon loves pleasures of the senses like this, and a little goes a long way. Self-care tonight will help us face the somewhat unpleasant Saturn/Uranus energy tomorrow.
Wednesday, February 17th ~ The moon is in Taurus all day, which helps our emotions to remain somewhat smooth and unruffled. We are more likely to be impacted by physical discomfort than emotionally-based highs and lows. The big news for today is that the Saturn/Uranus square that has been building up all week perfects at 2:08pm EST. This is a grand-scale transit that is likely to impact global systems and communities in addition to our personal lives. We often see this transit during worldwide shifts in economy. This is considered one of the big transits of 2021, and it will hit two more times before the year is finished. This transit creates friction first and foremost. It shakes up existing structures and shows us the way they are failing. The purpose of this is so that we can rebuild and make changes that will benefit greater amounts of people, but the first step before we get there is feeling that friction. If you are following the stock market/Reddit news over the past month this is a great example of this transit in action. Saturn represents the old way of doing things - tradition, institutions, and restriction. Uranus heralds change - the dissolving of boundaries, shock and awe, power to the people, and intense shifts that come with little warning. We saw this same square (though in different zodiac signs) back in 1929-1930, during the worldwide economic Depression, and again in 1975 during the gas crisis in the USA. What we often see during these square periods is a strong divide between freedom and control, and shifts (Uranus) in previously existing structures or financial institutions (Saturn). Let's look back to spring 2020 when these planets first came into a degree orb of squaring one another. We saw a rise in unemployment and a major drop off in the economy and stock market. We are likely to continue seeing this throughout 2021, unfortunately. However, looking at the supporting astrology I believe what will happen is that this problem will get so bad that the powers that be will be forced to deal with it beyond sticking a band-aid on a gaping wound. This transit is going to make it impossible to ignore the economic problems and inequality and will force the structures (Saturn) to change (Uranus) to fix economic issues (Taurus) and bring greater peace and harmony for more people (Aquarius). Please try not to feel too fearful if we continue to see this friction coming at us from all directions, as it is the first step to bringing about a more lasting change. We will continue to discuss this aspect throughout the year (it will perfect again in June and December). Revolutionary energy is in the air as the Sun hangs out at 29 degrees Aquarius this evening.
Thursday, February 18th ~ The more intense feelings of yesterday give way to gentle watery dreams as the Sun shifts into Pisces at 5:43am EST. As the moon is in Taurus all day, we balance this out with a more grounded, realistic approach. It is possible to have a foot in two worlds today, spinning into visions and poetic ideals while being firmly rooted in reality at the same time. A lot can be built and organized today. We continue to feel the energy of the Saturn/Uranus square. Surprises may come, either in your personal life or on a larger scale. You may notice you oscillate between clinging to the past and wanting to knock it all down and move toward the future. The earth is responding in turn; in some ways, this sentiment is the theme of 2021.
Friday, February 19th ~ The moon reaches its first quarter in Taurus before moving void of course at 2:28am EST. We could feel a sense of unrest which compels us to action. There is a deep desire to get things done today, especially in the morning. The moon is void from 2:28am until 11:04am EST, and yet it is not a sleepy, restful void but one that insists upon moving in the direction of progress. The moon enters Gemini at 11:04am EST. This could bring in a greater sense of collaboration and desire for social contact. We may feel less serious minded and more curious about the world around us. Venus and Mars are in square today, perfect at 6:03pm EST. Relationships serve as catalysts. Anything that could be described as frustrating is a mirror which reflects into infinity. The key tonight is to ask questions and keep things theoretical, in the spirit of Gemini. Mars squares can sometimes make us act without thinking, and do something we might regret. Treat these annoyances like a philosophy lesson and seek to learn all you can about the person who is ruffling your feathers. If that isn't possible, then take a step back and disengage.
Saturday, February 20th ~ Today the moon is in Gemini all day long. We seek to learn and fulfill our curiosity today. Approaching life as both a student and a clown, Gemini is the perfect guide to bring Mercury out of its retrograde. Mercury stations direct tonight at 7:53pm EST, and we officially enter Phase Two of the Mercury cycle that began on February 8th. Phase Two is when Mercury is moving at its fastest speed around its orbit. It is easier to think fast and come up with ideas and solutions. It is a time of making prototypes, testing things out, and learning through trial and error. We will be in this phase until April 18th. Let's say during Phase One you had the idea to build a new website for your business. Phase One is the conception of the plan, whereas Phase Two is the actual time of building the site. Maybe you try things out, test them and find you need to finetune them here and there. Maybe you share the website with some friends to see what they think. During Phase Three (beginning mid-April), we begin to shift more toward the external. This is a time for making the website live and beginning to really promote it. That is not to say that you can't make things go live during Phase Two, just that you may find the process of trying and redefining more satisfying than spending time on promotion and networking. Mercury stations direct tonight at 11 degrees Aquarius, and resumes its forward motion. It will be here in Aquarius until March 15th.
Sunday, February 21st ~ The moon is in Gemini this morning, and we may find ourselves intrigued by a good book, a crossword puzzle, or maybe just chatting with an interesting friend. When the moon is in Gemini our attention span may be less focused and we may be more cerebral than emotionally-centered. The moon is void for most of the afternoon, from 1:39pm until 10:53pm EST when it enters the sign of its domicile, Cancer. It's a good day for taking some time off and enjoying yourself. Jupiter is sextiling asteroid Eros today, which can make us seek out romantic or sensual connection. We could enjoy doting on loved ones tonight, especially once the moon is in Cancer.
