Weekly Forecast: 5/15/23 through 5/21/23

Monday, May 15th ~ The moon is void of course until it enters Aries at 3:55am EST. The moon in Aries is fiery, impassioned, and bold. It takes us away from the idea of limits and into freedom and individuality. We often feel more restless and energetic as the moon transits this sign. The moon sextiles Pluto at 4:28am EST, intensifying our will to succeed and overcome challenges. This brings a single-minded focus to the day. Mars trines Neptune at 9:44am EST, a transit which has been building for a few days and will continue to be felt until the weekend. Our actions take on a more intuitive quality; we do something without really knowing why. If we are in tune with our bodies, we can expect lovely surprises. We also feel a deep need to protect and defend people and causes that are dear to our hearts. Imagination enters into the movements of the body, allowing for expressive motion, a bit like interpretive dancing. The moon squares Venus at 7:41pm EST to close out the day. Frustrations arise around others, particularly when we feel slowed down or boxed in by somebody near us. Jupiter is at the 29th degree of Aries today, intensifying daredevil behavior and impulsiveness.

Tuesday, May 16th ~ The moon is in Aries for the entire day, bringing a slight impatience and urge to move through emotions quickly. We need to move our bodies more frequently in order to neutralize and cast off heavy feelings. The moon conjuncts Chiron at 11:29am EST, opening up a healing portal for the physical body. Pay attention to how your body feels and what it needs from you. Jupiter enters Taurus at 1:20pm EST, where it will be until May 2024. Jupiter was last in Taurus in 2012. There is an opulence to this placement that revels in fine aesthetics and luxuries of the senses. Fine fabrics, delicious dining, and melodic music rule the year. This is a good year for increasing personal revenue and making lucky career moves. Grounding and creating roots brings a comingling of excitement and security. Creativity flourishes as we feel the union of inspired, curious Jupiter with beauty dazzled, harmonic Venus.

Wednesday, May 17th ~ Today is a very busy day in the cosmos. We start with the Aries moon squaring Mars at 5:09am EST and then moving void of course for over three hours. A competitive spirit drives us today, and a need to prove ourselves emerges from the Mars tension. The void period ends at 8:47am EST as the moon moves into Taurus, and then promptly squares Pluto at 9:00am EST. Be aware of tendencies to become stuck in a mode of being today, unwilling to budge or open your mind. The moon conjuncts the North Node later on at 3:35pm EST which helps in connecting us to seeing how things could play out if we approach them from a higher or expanded perspective. The moon conjuncts Mercury at 7:26pm EST, newly out of its retrograde. This is a great transit for musicians/singers, and also for those seeking to share deep feelings through using the voice. The moon then sextiles Saturn at 7:57pm EST, bringing honest self-reflection and patience. The day ends with a square between Jupiter in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius at 9:10pm EST, though we can feel this one building up all day and almost vibrating in its intensity. Desires for recognition and success come to the forefront. Some may feel almost insatiable needs for physical possessions, especially those that are perceived to show up someone else. These can be unhealthy thought spirals to follow down, particularly because there is so much impulse involved with this transit that simply entertaining the thought leads us to take action we may later regret. Try to sit with urges to spend money or take financial risks, budget it out, or talk it over with a friend. It can be helpful to slow down that all-consuming need to take action, because we often discover through the passage of time that we don't actually need that thing after all.

Thursday, May 18th ~ The moon is in steady, enduring Taurus all day, gently nudging our attention to the beauty all around us. The Sun sextiles Neptune at 4:59am EST, casting a warm and ethereal glow over the day. Imagination soars and ideas flow in like water. Our hearts are more open and forgiving today, allowing for deep and intimate connection with others that feels more like spirits merging. The moon sextiles Venus at 5:18am EST which further supports these feelings. We want harmony in our relationships and would like to spend time with those who make us feel good. The moon conjuncts Uranus at 7:28pm EST, which makes us more aware of subtle manipulations of our feelings. We want to be free to feel how we feel, rather than being coerced to react a certain way. Overall, the vibrations of the day are quite pleasant and foster an environment of love, creativity, and freedom. We are building toward tomorrow's New Moon which could bring a feeling of quiet reverie and contemplation.

Friday, May 19th ~ Today's New Moon day starts with Mercury sextiling Saturn in Pisces at 2:39am EST, a transit we just experienced last week and will move through again now that Mercury is direct. Clarity of focus allows for deep concentration and aids with memory. The moon in Taurus sextiles Neptune at 9:39am EST, excellent for poets and writers to channel higher emotions into words. The New Moon in Taurus hits at 11:53am EST. Taurus moons bring a need to be sated, to feel secure and like our reserves are full. It can be a good time to release those things we've been holding in these reserves that we no longer need. We have a chance today to ground in and reset, allowing for tangible change to enter in. It's also an excellent time to plant seeds or flowers in the Earth and to experience the joy of nurturing something as it grows under the light of the Sun. The moon goes on to sextile Mars at 1:50pm EST before moving void of course for almost an hour. A quick burst of energy comes around this time. The moon moves into Gemini at 2:47pm EST, which invigorates the mind with curiosity and humor. Finally, the moon trines Pluto at 3:19pm EST to close out the day. Here we look below the surface to understand things on a deeper level. We may investigate our own feelings by observing them from a more impartial place.

Saturday, May 20th ~ The moon is in Gemini all day today, the jester's moon that finds comfort and security through acquiring information. The moon squares Saturn at 2:57am EST as Mars transits the 29th degree of Cancer and approaches an opposition to Pluto, perfecting later on. This combination can enhance feelings of separation. We may overthink our emotions and use them as a shield to keep others from us. Stay grounded and present. Breathe, and let feelings flow rather than trying to overanalyze them. Mars enters Leo at 11:31am EST, where it will be until July 10th. This is a bold and courageous placement for Mars. We feel energized by self-expression, and finding creative ways to show the world who we are. Appreciation and sincere compliments go a long way during this period, softening tensions in relationships and helping those we care about to feel more empowered. Finally, Mars opposes Pluto at 11:12pm EST. This transit has been noticeable over the past few days as it has built, and we will continue to feel it through the middle of next week. Anger builds if we feel manipulated or controlled. Many will be more volatile and reactive, and issues of power and control will create rifts. It is advisable to come at things as if you are on a level playing field with the other person, rather than trying to tell them what to do. People in positions of power could become drunk on their ability to manipulate situations. Team up with others or extricate yourself from the situation if that proves too difficult. It is the last day of Taurus season, and with the Sun at the 29th degree we will need to shift our attention away from energies that are too intense.

Sunday, May 21st ~ Happy Gemini season! Today begins with the Gemini moon sextiling Chiron at 1:09am EST. Talking about feelings with a trusted friend or confidante brings healing and release of tight tension in the body. The Sun enters Gemini at 3:09am EST, and we are officially in the season of mutable air, the sign of the twins. Gemini revels in variety, extremes, and multifaceted learning. Mutable signs close out seasons, and so there is an energy of dissolving that comes with Gemini. We release stubborn thoughts and open our minds to new ideas and possibilities. This is a wonderful time for learning a new hobby or skill, taking a class, or stretching the mind in some way. The Sun trines Pluto at 9:58am EST which allows for increased self-confidence and willpower. Yesterday's Mars/Pluto power struggles may linger on, but we are apt to be less reactive and emotional about it. The moon squares Neptune at 6:11pm EST and then  moves void of course for over five hours. This is a really good period for rest, relaxation, and deep spiritual healing. Take a nap, read a book which inspires you, light a candle and burn your favorite herb or spice to anoint it. The moon enters its domicile of Cancer at 11:28pm EST, the sign it is the most comfortable in. Our emotions soften and our minds open to dream and remember.
