November 13 - 19

The New Moon in Scorpio perfects at 4:27am EST on Monday, November 13th. This is the most inward moon of the entire astrological year. New Moons always invite us to explore the most intimate shadows of our psyches, and Scorpio is the deep sea diver of the zodiac. Here we plunge into the velvety black abyss of the darkest waters, amongst the phosphorescent sea creatures of the deep. The reason for such a profound sojourn into unexplored terrain is not to overwhelm or traumatize us by exposing us to the unknown. Instead we are invited to search the depths for answers. Scorpio wants to see below, between, beyond. They want to know the secrets of a universe rich in riddles. The key here is to remain open and curious. If you become overtaken with heady emotion, imagine yourself tucked safely in a silvery bubble, breathing easy as you descend through the rich darkness. There is much to learn and see, dear travelers.

This New Moon perfects at the 20th degree of Scorpio, in the third decan which is ruled by the Moon. The lunar energy magnifies to ensure this is a time where we experience big feelings. As you plunge the depths of your consciousness, remember that there is something important to be revealed. Maybe it's something you missed, or never had the chance to understand before. The 20th degree of the zodiac is actually ruled by Scorpio, and so we double down on both lunar and Scorpionic energy. There could be heightened intuition or sudden revelations around the ancestral line you came from.

There is whimsy and playfulness in the air as Mercury enters into a sextile with Venus on Wednesday, November 15th at 7:48am EST. Mercury is currently traversing the sign of Sagittarius, while Venus moves through Libra. Sextiles are gentle and harmonious and unite the planets in a light, buoyant manner. Any time two planets are in sextile you can be assured that the signs they are in are compatible and get along well. We feel Mercury transits for around 24 hours, and typically find they impact the mind, ideas, and how we communicate with others. Words spill out more readily and we try to find common ground with those around us. As we are still coming out of the Dark Moon period, we could be a little shy as we stretch out to connect. There is a want and a yearning for contact, but the slightest bit of hesitation to be as open as we might wish. As the moon grows in light, so too will we grow in confidence.

The Sun and Mars are racing through the later degrees of Scorpio, and will link up in a conjunction tomorrow. For today, they each take turns forming a trine with Neptune. A trine is one of the most harmonious astrological aspects, with the two planets both in signs that share the same element. In this case, the Sun and Mars are both in Scorpio, and Neptune is in Pisces. A water trine deepens emotions, heightens intuition, and opens our hearts to inspiration as we move through the world. Mars trines Neptune at 3:35am EST, and the Sun trines Neptune at 9:51am EST. While both pack a powerful punch, we will actually feel the effects of Mars's trine for longer. Mars transits tend to be felt for 3-4 days, while Sun transits are felt for around a day in length. The Sun and Neptune meet to open us up to possibilities and to open our imaginations to what else could be out there. We could feel the energy of others in a more positive way, and be able to use that to assist and inspire.

The Mars/Neptune connection allows us shift into taking inspired action. Mars represents physicality, and Neptune lies in the spiritual realm. Here, we find ourselves moving ahead without much foresight but feeling called forward all the same. We take a step down a path in the woods without knowing where it leads, but somehow knowing it is correct. While sometimes a Mars and Neptune connection can lead to confusion and the more illusory side of the Neptunian fog, the trine keeps things light and bright. You know in your inner being what is right. You see the path, and your body reacts. Trust the process and your own internal knowing.

Coming off of yesterday's Neptune trines, the Sun and Mars meet in conjunction today at 12:41am EST. These are two super powered planetary bodies. The Sun is the source of all light, all life, all of everything! Any time a planet comes into conjunction with it, it is said to be "Cazimi", an Arabic word meaning 'in the heart'. Mars in the heart of the Sun links all the fire and physical motivation of Mars with the overlay of our entire personality. We feel compelled to move today. There is a need for action and activity that cannot be overlooked or ignored. If we are made to sit still, we'll move anyway. If we are made to stagnate, we'll change anyway. You can use this transit to your advantage by allowing it to fan your fire. It won't set the fire, but it will make it bigger. Astrology in general can't create things, it just magnifies and alters them as the planetary dance swirls on overhead. It is our job as beings incarnate on Earth to utilize our creative abilities, and to make of life what we will. Today, the Sun and Mars feed our passions. We still feel the Mars/Neptune trine from yesterday that guides us toward the action that is needed for our souls, and needed for the planet.
