December 18 - 24

Monday, December 18th ~ Mercury enters into a trine with Jupiter at 9:27am EST on Monday, December 18th. As Mercury is currently retrograde in the sign of Capricorn, this transit is a repeat of an aspect that occurred on December 7th. Look back to what was going on that day; there is a link between the two that offers us a sort of re-do. Ideas flow openly during this transit, and we are poised to feel more talkative and open with sharing knowledge and information. With Mercury Rx, there is more of a focus on tying up past projects and wrapping up unfinished business. Most of the day's energy is more logical and deals with possibilities and planning rather than anything overtly emotional. Someone who was not very responsive a week and a half ago may be more open to hearing you out now.

Thursday, December 21st ~ Bright solstice blessings and happy Capricorn Season! Capricorn season officially begins at 10:27pm EST on Thursday, December 21st. This time of cardinal earth is wonderful for grounding in and making moves toward long term goals. We tend to have better luck creating lasting change by laying the foundation brick by brick, and taking our time as we construct something meaningful and beautiful. This is not a time to rush the process. The Winter Solstice (or Summer Solstice in the southern hemisphere) is a time of extremes, where darkness and light are out of balance. Yuletime ushers in a season of rest and recovery, as well as celebration in the form of burning candles, decorating with sparkling lights and boughs of holly.
Today we also see Venus in opposition to Uranus (exact at 2:04am) and Mercury Rx sextile Saturn (7:33am EST). Surprises occur in relationships, and we may find ourselves being rebellious against expectations from loved ones. Mercury and Saturn allow for added insights to come regarding a past event. We may be able to view it from a more objective place today.

Friday, December 22nd ~ The Sun and Mercury meet in conjunction at 0 degrees Capricorn on Friday, December 22nd at 1:53pm EST. This Mercury Cazimi brings an intense delivery of ideas, some related to past threads we once dropped. We are likely to remember forgotten stores of information and begin to unpack them over the next couple days. This is the last transit for Mercury before it retrogrades back into Sagittarius tomorrow.
The interior Cazimi of Mercury occurs when Mercury is retrograde and sits between the Sun and the Earth. This begins a new Mercury cycle, consisting of four phases. We can use this Mercury cycle to implement new ideas and projects in our lives, specifically those that involve writing, creativity, or technology. This Mercury cycle lasts until April 11th, 2024. The first phase that starts today is focused around observations and insight. Mercury is renewed in its purpose after its contact with the Sun, and we receive ideas and glimpses of new possibilities. This first phase of the cycle lasts until January 1st, when Mercury retrograde ends. This is an ideal time to sit with information, brainstorm, and feel out what we want to focus our minds on next. We will check in on January 1st and discuss the second phase of this cycle.

Saturday, December 23rd ~ Mercury re-enters Sagittarius at 1:17am EST on Saturday, December 23rd. It continues its retrograde motion for a little over a week as it traverses back through the sign of mutable fire. Here, Mercury is direct, bold, and playful. We may find our minds regressing somewhat over the next week, seeking out comfort, security, and connection to our inner child. Mercury in Sagittarius is philosophical and curious, but also easily distracted and scattered. We can benefit greatly from grounding exercises, meditation, and mindful movement over the next week. Those with natal planets in degrees 22-29 of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) will be especially foggy and could find it difficult to focus. Take good care of yourself and don't force answers to come. Being more open and yielding with yourself with bring more peace of mind.
