Monday, October 19th ~ Today is an extremely busy day in the cosmos! We begin with Mars entering a square with Jupiter at 1:37am EST, and shortly after Venus moving into trine with Jupiter at 3:34am EST. All of the aspects of the day are the kind that linger, and we will feel this energy over the course of the next couple days as well. Mars is currently in retrograde, so any aspects it makes will feel a bit like deja vu. We have an opportunity to approach a similar situation in a new way. What can we do better, or differently? Mars square Jupiter creates the tendency to overstretch or overwork, or else to feel we need to take action to create opportunities. This is tricky because we may feel resentful of needing to do this. We feel like it should come a little easier. The thing is, the aspect creates this entire narrative so it can be a little challenging to see what is real. It is best to sit with an idea for a couple days, or only take action on those things that feel exciting and joyful. With Venus trine Jupiter, we are buoyant and optimistic, or can tap into those energies pretty easily. Go where your joy carries you today, and try to hold off on details that seem like drudgery, at least until tomorrow or Wednesday, when you will have the clarity to reexamine them. Tonight Mercury moves into opposition with Uranus at 10:47am EST. As Mercury is also retrograde, conversations can feel a little wacky. We might not fully get the essence of what someone else is saying. It could feel stimulating and a little strange, like talking with an alien or a really interesting character, but it might be hard to derive meaning. This is a good aspect for writing or story telling, as it allows us to expand our imaginations and boldly share our ideas.

Tuesday, October 20th ~ Today Venus moves into square with the North Node at 4:33pm EST. Who are you interacting with today? You may feel frustrated by the people around you, either physically or those you encounter in the realm of the internet. It may seem like they are holding you back, are not understanding, or are preventing you from achieving a goal. While it may not feel very easy, it can be a good practice to thank them in your mind and imagine yourself growing away from that energy. Thanking people who no longer share our particular path is a good practice, as they have aided us in arriving at a sense of clarity of who we want around us and who we have outgrown, or who is not a vibrational match for us. You can then make a list of people in your life who genuinely make you feel good, those who want you to succeed and who leave you with a sense of optimism and love. Spend some time thanking these people (either privately as an energetic offering, or actually reaching out to them). If you do not have any people like that in your life, you can imagine the kinds of people you'd like to know and be close with. You do not need to begin pruning these out-of-harmony folks out of your life today; it is a better time to get clear on the kinds of friends and peers you would like.

Wednesday, October 21st ~ This evening Venus and Pluto meet in trine at 5:41pm EST. With Venus being in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn, the earth sign energy manifests as fertile ground beneath the feet. We move below the surface and into the roots as we communicate with others. The aspect is mostly pleasant feeling, as the trine is harmonious, so any intensity in conversation is most likely going to be desired. We want to go beyond surface connection and find the true connection. Venus is especially active this week as it skates through the final decan of Virgo, which is actually ruled by... Venus! Because of this, the planet of love and beauty is feeling more at home than it has throughout its sojourn of Virgo. The energy of today is much like vines, growing and spreading and producing lovely flowers. With the right person or people around us, the vines connect and lift and create a gorgeous canopy. If you are feeling more like vines are tightly wrapped around you, choking and blocking out the sun, then this might be indicative of needing more support in your life from your friends and family. Read yesterday's forecast for more insight here, as we are still feeling the energy of Venus' square with the North Node which perfected Tuesday afternoon.

Thursday, October 22nd ~ Welcome Scorpio Season! The Sun enters the eighth sign of the zodiac at 6:59pm EST this evening. We are officially shifting toward the darkest season here in the northern hemisphere. Scorpio season marks a time to turn inward, and delve through the shadowy corners of our psyches to overcome fear. It is no coincidence that Samhain / Halloween, and Dia de los Muertos occur during Scorpio season. Historically speaking, our ancestors celebrated the dead on these days, and lit candles and carved Jac-o-Lanterns (traditionally made of turnips!) to act as guiding lights for the spirits of the departed. The element of this being a fearful thing is fairly modern, really within the last century. Scorpio season reminds us that we can face the things that scare us and that we do not have to fear being lost in the darkness. As the days grow shorter and the shadows grow longer, we are encouraged to alight our candles, both literally and metaphorically. This particular Scorpio season is going to be one of the more interesting ones in history, as we creep toward Mercury Cazimi, a Blue Moon on Halloween (conjunct Uranus no less - more on that later), and Jupiter/Pluto conjunction. Keep your lights burning, and we'll guide each other home.

Friday we have a first quarter moon in Aquarius. It is a pretty easeful day in the cosmos and no big aspects hit. We may feel amped up to create or do something new. Some may feel the need to be alone and recharge.

Saturday, October 24th ~ Venus and Saturn meet in trine today at 11:40am EST. Venus is making her way through the final degrees of Virgo, edging ever closer to the sign she rules over, Libra. This is the fourth Venus aspect of the week, which is pretty unusual. A Venus-tinged week tends to produce a heightened eye for beauty and artistry. The Venus/Saturn meetup today allows us to critique what we see and make improvements as necessary. It is a good transit for editing ourselves and taking away what isn't working. Really I could see this being a nice day for sorting through your possessions and making piles for donation, and then cleaning up your space to look fresh and lovely. If you are working on any creative projects, it could also be a good day for discerning what is needed to make them the best they can be.

Sunday, October 25th ~ Today Mercury Cazimi occurs, also known as a Sun/Mercury conjunction, happening at 2:22pm EST. It is even occurring at 2 degrees (another 2!) Scorpio. When Mercury and the Sun align in conjunction, the powers of Mercury are somewhat absorbed by the light of the Sun. They become one, functioning as a single unit. Mercury is imbued with all the powers of the Sun and vice versa. Today's conjunction is considered an interior conjunction of Mercury, which occurs when Mercury is retrograde. This means that Mercury passes between the Earth and the Sun on its orbit, acting as messenger between the two energies. It is this proximity to Earth which gives us the illusion of Mercury moving backward in the sky.
Let's talk about Mercury cycles. Today's interior conjunction kicks off a brand new cycle of Mercury. Each cycle of Mercury lasts for about four months; this one begins today and ends February 9th, 2021. We are in stage 1 of this cycle, which will last until Mercury turns direct on November 3rd. This first phase has an initiatory energy. The contact of Mercury and the Sun stimulates Mercury. We may have a flood of ideas that wash over us. You may feel somewhat overwhelmed by how much is floating in the ether. Over the next week, you can sort through these ideas and see which resonate the most. The second stage is the longest, lasting from November 3rd to December 19th. We will discuss more when we arrive there, but know that this will be the time for beginning to work outwardly on these ideas.
