Monday, December 21st ~ Happy Solstice to you! Today the Sun shifts into Capricorn and initiates the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and Summer Solstice in the Southern at 5:01am EST. Today has a very powerful energy and we have been building up to this day for weeks now. (Many astrologers are calling this the most potent day we have had in many years!). The Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius occurs at 1:20pm EST today. These Great Conjunctions occur every 20 years or so, but it has been over 600 years since Jupiter and Saturn have met in conjunction in the sign of Aquarius. These two planets have very opposite energy - Jupiter expands while Saturn constricts, Jupiter jumps in while Saturn holds back. When they team up together, we get the best of both worlds. We receive all of Saturn's discernment powers and all of Jupiter's boldness and willingness to act. The two planets are in a loose square to Uranus, suggesting that the longer lasting ramifications of this Great Conjunction could result in the toppling of those who wield unfair power advantages. We may see sudden shifts in these arenas. This is an important Great Conjunction; the last 10 or so conjunctions of Jupiter and Saturn have taken place in earth signs. Think of how much this has impacted society and civilization throughout the 1800s and 1900s - it was during these eras that we saw expansion (Jupiter) of industrialization and taming of wilderness (Saturn). This Great Conjunction tips to air; we will now have nothing but Great Conjunctions in air signs for the next 130 years. This will come to impact our mental processes more than the physical Earth. We are likely to see new ideas and technology and shifts toward equality. Rules and laws will likely expand and change to assist greater amounts of people. Also, today the moon is in Aries and reaches its First Quarter at 6:41pm EST. We may feel more energetic and ready to take risks. Independence is a theme for today. It will be important to carve out some space and time that is just for you.
Tuesday, December 22nd ~ The Moon is in Aries all day long, giving us energy and enthusiasm. We may experience our emotions in a fierce way, or notice our tempers can flare up. Asteroid Eros moves into Scorpio today, where it will be until January 30th. Eros represents passion, sensuality, and desire. Its impact is not always sexual but definitely can be. With Eros in what could be considered her ruler, it could very well be easier to express passion in both romantic affairs and in those projects that are important to us. However, Eros in Scorpio is not necessarily about sharing these things publicly, but more about experiencing and indulging behind closed doors. Juno is in sextile to Jupiter and Saturn, who are still in a loose conjunction today. We continue to feel the power of yesterday's Great Conjunction, with an added urge to protect and nurture the downtrodden or unempowered.
Wednesday, December 23rd ~ Today Mars in Aries moves into square with Pluto in Capricorn at 9:52am. This is a harsh, somewhat unpleasant aspect that seems to create a feeling of power struggle. We may wish to assert our independence, particularly with the moon in Aries all day. Mercury enters a square with Chiron at 9:11pm EST. This energy is difficult to navigate. We could feel rebellious or tuned to notice where we're feeling repressed or oppressed. Ultimately it is through communication that we can move through this feeling. While it may seem counterintuitive to be direct and clear today, it is what will ultimately set you free. The moon is void of course from 5:51pm EST until tomorrow morning. The evening is a good time for letting loose and relaxing.
Thursday, December 24th ~ The moon is void of course until 5:56am EST when it enters Taurus. This provides a grounded feeling for the day. We may wish to stay close to home or partake in jolly traditions like baking, trimming the tree, or watching an old classic. Jupiter is in sextile to asteroid Juno today and in square to Eros, newly in Scorpio. This energy is actually very wholesome. It is not the best day for dramatic shows of passion; there is an innocence to today that brings more joy to those who get in touch with their childlike side. Neptune opposes Vesta today; this one brings some imagination and almost a sense of pleasant surreality to the home. It is a good aspect for fantasy and getting into the holiday spirit, where it's easy to imagine elves are hard at work packing presents onto Santa's sleigh. Spending time with children or pets could be especially rewarding.
Friday, December 25th ~ Bright Yule and Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to all! Today is relatively simple astrologically, which is a nice respite from the dozens of transits we've had over the past week. The Moon is in Taurus all day, which supports quiet, relaxing time at home with family or friends, or just enjoying some time to yourself. Vesta is in square to the North Node, which could make us feel a little guilty about taking time off or not giving someone else what they expect of us. However, the nature of this transit assures us that our intuition is correct here; we don't need to bend our whims to make someone else happy. This day is great for celebrating the simple things in life, and feeling appreciation and gratitude for what we have and who we are.
Saturday, December 26th ~ The moon is void for most of the day today, from 6:32am EST until it enters Gemini at 6:33pm EST. We could feel especially grouchy about having to leave the house, or doing chores or tasks that we'd rather put off. When the moon moves into Gemini later in the day we could feel more inspired to multi-task. Maybe we feel more talkative and ready to connect in the evening. Vesta continues to square the North Node; try not to question your instincts today. The work of the day is releasing guilt and allowing yourself to be who you are. Try to be as forgiving and understanding with yourself as you would be to your closest friend.
Sunday, December 27th ~ The Moon is in Gemini all day. We feel curious, stimulated, and eager to learn. Venus enters into conjunction with asteroid Sappho, while Uranus squares asteroid Pallas. A dash of creative genius is thrown into today's bubbling cauldron. We get blasts of inspiration, particularly as the Sun enters into an easeful trine with Uranus at 10:25pm EST. You may be surprised at where your insights bring you, and what you are inspired to do or work on. Problems can benefit from today's electric energy, as we are able to see pathways through them that we missed on days previous.
