Monday, January 4th ~ Today the Moon is in Virgo all day long, moving void of course at 4:32pm EST. We may seek to get organized, or wish to do our work in a more methodical manner. Our attention is drawn to areas that could be improved or overhauled. Mercury and Pluto meet in conjunction at 24 degrees Capricorn at 7:57pm EST, though we feel the energy of this transit throughout the hours leading up to it and following. This gives us a strong focus, and a desire to laser in on the truth of the matter. It is a great transit for doing research, as it makes connecting the dots and piecing things together easier. We may find ourselves interested in mysteries, the occult, or "darker" material. Many horror writers have a natal Mercury/Pluto; it makes one unafraid to plumb the depths.
Tuesday, January 5th ~ Today is relatively quiet astrologically. The moon is void of course until 12:42am EST when it shifts into Libra. When the moon is in Libra we may find it easier to consider the feelings and opinions of others, and be able to put ourselves in their shoes. We may wish to express ourselves through an artistic outlet, or bring our attention to adorning our home or self. Asteroid Sappho, currently in Sagittarius, moves into conjunction with the South Node and opposes the North Node today. This can bring up people or situations from the past, particularly those with romantic overtones. We may not experience them directly but may find ourselves reminded through thoughts, dreams, or repeating patterns. The message here is pretty clear to not regress in our actions but to use these memories to propel us forward in a way that allows our soul to grow and evolve.
Wednesday, January 6th ~ The moon is in Libra all day today, and Sappho continues to conjunct the South Node and oppose the North Node. Again we may find memories of people from the past rising up from the ether. Perhaps we even find ourselves contacted by someone from long ago. The Moon and Sun square today, and the moon enters its Last Quarter. We are moving toward next week's New Moon in Capricorn, about to start a brand new macro moon cycle. The waning moon makes us feel more introspective; maybe we wish to be more private and cloistered over the coming week. The big news for today is all Mars - the red planet finally leaves Aries and enters Taurus at 5:26pm EST. Mars spent around six months in Aries, about three times longer than it usually spends in a sign. Its retrograde this past year extended its stay in its home sign. Mars in Taurus brings energy to create tangible change. We may wish to find security, stability, and to take stock of our possessions and resources. This is a more grounded place for Mars. Athletes do well under this transit, as do those who spend time in nature. Mars will be here in Taurus until March 3rd.
Thursday, January 7th ~ The moon in Libra moves void at 12:55am EST until 3:54am EST, when it enters Scorpio. Our emotions could be more intense and private today and tomorrow. We may only wish to share our feelings with those closest to us. Trust is especially important to us when the moon is here in Scorpio. Today there are many aspects for the asteroids. Juno is in square to Neptune from now through Saturday, which can create some confusion in relationship to mothers or mother figures. There could be miscommunication; our interactions could also be pleasant enough but maybe not logical. Ceres is trine Eros, and Sappho squares Vesta. This makes us more likely to enjoy straightforward interactions, and could also result in some creativity being stifled thanks (or no thanks) to the home environment. Frustration could mount. It's a good idea to get outside or spend some time moving about through stretching or other exercise. Mars is now in Taurus, and a lot can be released through simple, grounding movement.
Friday, January 8th ~ Today is quite jam-packed astrologically. The moon is in Scorpio all day. Mercury enters Aquarius at 6:59am EST, joining the Aquarian party with Jupiter and Saturn. Mercury will be in Aquarius for a little while, briefly entering Pisces in February but slipping back into Aquarius due its retrograde motion. Mercury won't move on permanently into Pisces until March 16th. Ideas may be larger and connected more to the big picture during this time. It is easier to dream big. We could be inspired to work to help others or do more to alter the status quo through charity, political action, or revolution. Witty banter and shock value are more prevalent while Mercury transits Aquarius. Venus changes signs today too, slipping into Capricorn at 10:40am EST, here until January 29th. Venus in Capricorn can give us more focus in our creative projects, and we may be inspired to work step by step toward ambitions or goals in these areas. We may want clearer definitions in our relationships during these few weeks. Today also, Mercury newly in Aquarius squares Mars newly in Taurus. Arguments can arise, or frustrations with communication and technology. Take a step back if needed. The friction can actually be used for creative inspiration if you are able to alchemize it. The moon moves void of course at 8:59pm EST. Enjoy a relaxing evening if you can.
Saturday, January 9th ~ The moon is void until 6:15am EST when it enters Sagittarius. We are likely to feel restless and energetic this weekend. We are unlikely to wallow in bad feelings but will wish to take action to move away from painful emotions. Venus is trine Mars today, perfecting at 10:52am EST. This is a romantic, sensuous aspect. We seek harmony in our relationships with others. This is also a beautiful aspect for dancers, performers, and those who use their body for expression. Mercury is conjunct Saturn in Aquarius today, perfecting at 10:17pm EST. We may be more serious-minded as the day progresses. Overall the day's transits provide us a good base for philosophizing, learning, and expanding the mind through experience and study.
Sunday, January 10th ~ The moon is in Sagittarius all day, and void from 1:29pm EST until tomorrow. It is really a lackadaisical kind of afternoon, and a day for enjoyment, relaxation, and letting go of those responsibilities that can wait until tomorrow. Asteroid Psyche is trine asteroid Pallas, which is a creative, electric transit that allows us to expand our minds through creative endeavors. Asteroids Sappho and Vesta are in square today; coupled with the moon in Sagittarius, we may find we resent others being in our space. The prevailing desire is one of freedom and expansion, and if others are too clingy today it can make us feel especially frustrated. This may be applied to any responsibility we are expected to give our attention to today as well.
