Monday, May 17th ~ We begin the day with a Sun/Pluto trine at 5:48am EST, that is noticeable all day and even into tomorrow. This trine opens us up for transformation and allows for portions of the ego to be shed and released. The moon is void of course in Cancer from 2:23am until it moves into Leo at 8:44am EST. The Leo moon is playful and focused around shared joy. Venus is quite active today as well, squaring asteroid Vesta and then moving into an exact conjunction with the North Node in Gemini at 4:37pm EST. Relationships and connection with loved ones help assist us in our karmic journey today. Pay attention to who shows up today. Who do you hear from? Who do you interact with? There is a lot of power in seeing who naturally crosses your path. These people may be instrumental in getting you to the next stage of your personal evolution. The Venus/Vesta square can create slight tension in the home environment, or can make us feel unusually tuned to notice disharmonies around us. We may feel compelled to fix these imbalances, particularly with the Sun/Pluto interplaying in the skies above.
Tuesday, May 18th ~ Today the moon is in Leo all day. We may feel creative and excited to play games and connect with our inner child. The Leo moon is one of the best times to touch base with your youthful side each month. Venus and Chiron meet in sextile this morning at 7:43am EST, which casts a gentle healing overtone on the day. Love brings healing in all its many facets. Our creative output could offer some relief in moving through whatever ails us. Today asteroids Eros and Psyche enter into a three day opposition, with Eros in Capricorn and Psyche poised in Cancer. I have really only begun incorporating the major asteroids into my astrological forecasts over the past few months, and am surprised at how much they impact us given how little people talk about them! This particular opposition centers around romantic obsession. You may find yourself overtaken by another, with thoughts and feelings quite potent and all-consuming. Those sensitive to crushes or the tidal wave of unrequited love could notice this amping up this week. The sensual realms prove to be a balm for overthinking. Ground into the body and connect with your environment through the use of taste, touch, scent, sight, and sound. The more you can get in touch with the physical, the more you can counteract the more unpleasant side effects of this particular transit.
Wednesday, May 19th ~ The moon enters its First Quarter, waxing comfortably in the sign of Leo. Energy levels rise; catalysts abound all around us that spring us into action. The moon moves void from 3:13pm until 5:00pm EST when it ingresses Virgo. We check out of work for the afternoon, but as soon as Virgo takes over we could feel a need to accomplish something, provided it is on our own terms. Venus and Saturn meet in trine tonight at 9:57pm EST, which makes teamwork and partnership feel more attractive. Working with another person brings a sense of deepened accomplishment. You may also feel a desire to focus in on a creative, artistic pursuit. The asteroids are very busy today; the Eros/Psyche opposition continues, Mercury opposes Juno and squares Pallas, and Pallas and Juno square one another as well. Some key words for this energy include romance, obsession, rebellion, and eccentricity.
Thursday, May 20th ~ Happy Gemini Season! The Sun moves into the sign of the twins this afternoon at 3:36pm EST. Gemini season is mutable air, and brings along more of a desire for flexibility and open options. As the weather begins to shift, we seek out similar transformation in our own lives. The resolution of duality is a big motivator during this time. For more info on Gemini season, check out my newest podcast episode which is being released today. The moon is in Virgo all day, providing us with focus and determination to quietly do our work in the world. We may feel compelled to serve the greater good and develop humility. Today is the last day of the high-octave crush of Eros opposite Psyche. Desire builds and blooms, even from afar. Mercury squares Pallas and opposes Juno, which makes many seek out unique solutions outside of the box, and rebel against the traditional. Be intentional in your rebellion; do it because you believe in your cause, not simply to be like sandpaper against the grain.
Friday, May 21st ~ The moon is in Virgo all morning and most of the afternoon, moving void of course from 3:56pm until 9:36pm EST when it enters Libra. Virgoan voids have us puttering around, caring for houseplants and perfecting our environment, but preferring little interaction. The Sun is in square to Jupiter today, exact at 11:02am EST but potent all day. Generosity of spirit comes out. It's a good day for selfless actions, good deeds, and paying it forward without expectation of reward or acknowledgment. Asteroid Vesta squares the North Node for the next few days, which calls to mind the concept of physical home vs. spiritual home. Where does your spirit feel safe and "at home"? Is it more of a feeling than a place? These are some good thoughts to ruminate on this weekend. When the moon enters Libra tonight, we may feel a softening of emotions and seek out some way to share this with another.
Saturday, May 22nd ~ We have the moon in Libra all day today, waxing steadily as we approaching next week's eclipse. The transits for the day are a bit bizarre. Mercury and Neptune square at 10:48pm EST and Vesta continues to square the North Node. These transits are quite spiritual and transcendent in nature, but also exaggerate a feeling of being alien or unable to fit in. If you are prone to feel this way, then it could pop up today. If you are not, be careful that you are not alienating others. By seeking to be more inclusive, you can help combat this energy in both yourself and in the world at large. The Libran moon encourages us to move in the direction of harmony and balance. Kindness goes a long way today, reverberating up into the Earth's rafters.
Sunday, May 23rd ~ We begin the day with the moon in Libra, where it will be until later tonight. The Libran moon is quite social in nature today. We seek to escape responsibilities and simply enjoy and appreciate our surroundings and those we interact with. The moon is void of course from 5:36pm until 10:40pm EST, when it moves into Scorpio. The night brings more focus and a desire to explore our emotions deeply. Dreams tonight bring us into distant realms and recesses of our minds, like finding a door to a hidden attic. Saturn moves retrograde this morning at 5:20am EST, where it will be until October 6th. When Saturn goes retrograde, whatever we stuffed in our karmic closets comes tumbling out. Saturn shows up like a parent who is firmly asking you to clean your room... well, it's less of an asking and more of a telling. Over the next four and a half months, it's time to deal with all that is left over from the past. Tie up loose ends, clean your mess, and own up to what is yours. Trying to pin things on others or blaming them for the clutter doesn't go over well during Saturn retrograde. Life is made up of choices, and no one will make you deal with anything. If you choose to evade the disciplinarian that is Saturn, or stuff everything back in the closet and force the door closed, then you may miss out on the rewards that come after the hard lessons of Saturn. Saturn is patient and has a good memory, and brings deep, lasting success to those who continue to show up and do their work with a good attitude. More on Saturn retrograde can be found in today's podcast episode.
